Notice of a Home Fire

Published: August 20, 2018

Many of you probably have already heard that there was a fire on Saturday night in our community. The preliminary report indicates that lightning was the cause of the fire. The official cause of the fire, from the fire department, is pending as of the writing of this email.

Fortunately all the homeowners are physically OK and there were no fire related injuries.

There was extensive interior and exterior damage to one home. Two other homes have smoke and/or water damage.

The HOA will be working with the homeowners to assist as we work through the remediation and rebuilding process. We have been in contact with our insurance company and insurance adjusters will be assessing the damage and giving direction for repairs.

We would like to thank the homeowners who stopped by the homes to offer assistance or otherwise offered help to the affected homeowners. It is times like this that kind words of encouragement are greatly appreciated.

If there are a few take-aways from this unfortunate incident, they may be the following:

  • Make sure that you have the proper insurance coverage for your home.
  • Consider having an inventory of the personal items inside your home. Pictures or videos of all interior contents are a valuable asset in the event of a loss.
  • Know where the shutoff to your sprinkler system is located, in the event you have a minor fire and have the need to turn off the sprinkler system before it does more interior water damage.
