Sprinkler Backflow Testing

Published: November 14, 2017

It was brought to my attention yesterday that there is some confusion regarding the required back flow testing for your fire protection sprinkler system in your home. Any townhome or condo with common walls are required to have fire protection.

Per the City of Carrollton, your letters are based upon when you purchased your home. If you did not receive a letter now you can wait until you do, or you can have the test and the contractor can get the customer confirmation number on line from the City.

You are required to have this done every year. The State of Texas requires that backflow prevention assemblies be installed on all hazardous cross-connections to keep the water supply safe. You are also, required to use a licensed backflow tester to perform this work.

I have spoken with some contractors to give a discounted rate for doing several tests in your community. Marshall from Performance Fire Protection is already doing some testing in the community this week on Thursday. He will give a rate of $40 for the testing and the City of Carrollton’s cost is $47.50 for a total of $87.50 per home. He is also willing to come on a Saturday if he has several to do to accommodate working residents.

You may contact him at 972-989-4824 to schedule your inspection if you wish to use him.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion regarding this matter.

If I can be of any further help, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
